Addressing Professional Needs of
MK Teachers and Schools
The need to maintain quality education for children of missionaries in international settings is an important component to spreading the Word of God. Identified needs of MK teachers and school include maintenance of teaching credentials, being informed about what is taking place in education in the US, responding to individual requests for various items, information about initial certification, curriculum assistance, and other items. Among the means to address these needs are facilitating on-site college courses, distance education courses, and professional development workshops; providing information about initial certification and recertification; and responding to individual requests from teachers and administrators.
TIS was conceived as a world-wide MK teacher and mission school effort and to that end requests from anywhere will honored as time and resources permit. MK teachers and administrators are encouraged to contact TIS with questions and concerns about their professional needs.
Services of TIS Available to MK Teachers and Schools
(Much of the following is oriented towards MK teachers from the US. Additional
information is being prepared for teachers from other countries.)
Curriculum in MK schools is primarily North American. Because of the
increase of missionaries coming from other areas of the world this curriculum
needs to be reviewed with regard to its usefulness in serving children and
parents from all missionary sending countries.
