The person in this position will serve the Lord in a unique way since he/she will be directly involved in addressing the critical shortage of teachers of missionary children. These teachers contribute to keeping missionaries on the field and on task in a highly significant way since they fully understand and are totally committed to addressing missionaries' concerns for their children's education. Over and over again missionaries praise teachers for what they do and the support role they play. The person in this position will join these ranks.

Location: The location of Teachers In Service is in Las Cruces, NM. However, the individual in this position may reside anywhere he/she chooses in the continental US.

Title: Director of Fund-Raising for Project EdSend, a program of Teachers In Service, Inc.

Reports to: Board of Directors, Teachers In Service, Inc.

Job purpose: To raise financial support that will be used to assume monthly repayments of college education loans for teachers of missionary children, which will enable them to go to the mission field, providing they are otherwise deemed acceptable.

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for raising financial support for Project EdSend.
• Plan, organize, and carry out a method for identification of potential donors (TIS does not presently have a list of contacts).
• Make contact with potential donors utilizing principals found in The Spirituality of Fund-raising by Henri J. M. Nouwen1 and the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability2
• Establish long-term donor partnerships
• Be self-motivated
• Maintain records in compliance with ECFA guidelines
• Uphold, safeguard, and promote Teachers In Service's Christian and ethical values
• Insures that funds raised are fully accountable and deposited in the Teachers In Service corporate account and that they are accessible by the Project EdSend Manager.
• Provides receipts to donors for all contributions
• Complies with procedures common to this line of work
• Adheres to IRS and state laws and policies.
• Provides a report to the Chair person of the Board of Directors no less than once a week.

Requirements:

• Be an evangelical Christian and agree with the Statement of Faith of Teachers In Service, Inc.
• Have a history of successful fundraising in either the for-profit or not-for-profit environments.
• Have superior people skills, including face to face, telephone, and e-mail.

Remuneration:

This is a non-salaried position and does not carry insurance and retirement benefits. Reasonable expenses to carry out the job will be reimbursed.
