On-site workshops

One goal of TIS is to make available to MK schools a resource base of individuals who could conduct workshops in a wide range of topics. Topics would include content areas of teaching, counseling, desk top publishing, brain research as it relates to teaching and learning, trends in education in the US and Canada (and perhaps other countries), etc. Requests will be honored as time and resources permit. Please contact TIS with your requests.

It is possible that a proposed workshop could be converted into a college course for those teachers who need credits for renewing their teaching credential; teachers who do not need credit can participate in the workshop/course at the same time. There would, of course, be more work for teachers who elect college hours. However, this could be a relatively easy way to obtain college hours. Continuing Educating Units (CEUs) are also possible but teachers should be aware that some states will accept these hours towards recertification and some will not. Teachers are advised to check with the state education department from whom they received their credential for what they will and will not accept. Teachers with ACSI certification should check with them. Canadian teachers should check with their licensing agency.

TIS has been working with Seattle Pacific University (a Christian institution) on out of country, teacher initiated college courses. If this is of interest to teachers and/or administrators, please contact TIS for details and do not contact SPU directly.
