I am exploring the idea of becoming an MK teacher.

Where do I begin?

Thanks for coming to this site to explore and consider becoming a teacher of children of missionaries.  I have been working with these kids, their parents, and their teachers since 1999.  Believe me, they represent an incredible array of individuals committed to Christ.  Many times I have said to my self that it is a privilege to just be in their presence, to be part of their lives for a short period of time.  The teachers are of all ages from just out of college to retired teachers on a second career.

Since you are here exploring, I have tried to assemble a series of places for you to gather information, places that will provide you with specific items to take to the Lord in pray as you seek His face in making a decision.  This involves some reading and some watching and listening to some short interviews I made in a few places that have MKs; there are many more places of course.  These places include Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Guatemala, and Mexico.  These are not staged or rehearsed interviews.  Rather, they are interviews with missionaries in the field that agreed to let me interview and record our conversation.  They tell it how it is, they speak from their heart.

We know that some of you may return to this site to look around again.  Some of you may navigate to a variety of web sites trying to get more and more information.  We invite you to do this.  The more information you get the more you can talk with the Lord about.  I mean really, this decision is not like making a decision about which DVD to watch tonight.  It is a decision that has far-reaching consequences.  It is a decision that will affect your life.

We welcome visitors from all over the world to our web site.  The work of the Lord is so very much a world-wide endeavor and we welcome you and encourage you to look around our web site and to consider teaching children of missionaries.

OK.  Enough.  On to, "Where do I Begin?"

Teachers of missionary children (MKs) contribute to the Great Commission of Christ by relieving parents  the responsibility of educating their children.  When the educational needs of their children are not met parents are faced with the decision to return home (abandoning their work), become a teacher themselves (leaving their own work undone and probably not qualified to be a teacher), or search for another solution.  None of these decisions is good; each negatively impacts spreading the Word of God to the nations.

Missionary organizations recruit MK teachers to teach these children and therefore eliminate parents having to make this significant decision in their service to the Lord.  However, at the present time, and with full acknowledgement that there is a lot of effort by many people using a variety of recruitment tactics among several missionary organizations, there remain approximately six hundred teaching vacancies around the world!  These vacancies affect the spreading the Word of God to the nations.

If you are serious about teaching MKs or if you merely want to investigate possibilities or if you simply want to learn more, please consider navigating to a variety of pages on this web site and some external links:
